Pinion Main Shaft bearing Removal....

I'm trying to remove the main pinion shaft bearing and cage. I removed the three bolts and snap ring. I can get the whole cage to move about 3/16" after that it won't move any farther. I really don't want to pry between the flange and the bearing housing because there is a chance of breaking off any part of the flange that the three bolts go through. So how's it done?
