A friend recently rebuilt the C153 in his 2444. He did not replace the pump. and had low oil pressure.
He had a machine shop flatten the cover plate on the oil pump and that fixed it up nicely.
The oil pumps seem to be ahrd to find rebuilts and not too cheap.

Of course your results might vary.
