The notched handle is the draft control for the hitch. Place it in the notch that makes your plow pull the easiest. Some of these seem to work well and others do not. If you notice below that handle there is a cam system that is suppose to change the position of the hitch while plowing. It is suppose to change the angle of the plow automatically when you hit tough spots in the field.
