We use an early "50s M around for a variety of chores. Recently the motor started to race when not under load. The engine speed does not respond to position of the throttle control lever. The tractor starts great, runs smooth, no off colored exhuast.

What might be causeing the motor to race? Any simple fixes, tips or leads would be greatly appreciated.
