Although it wasn't your original question, suprised nobody's mentioned trying one of those syringe-like tools that are supposed to clear up grease zerks that wont take grease. Fill the tool with penetrating oil, put it on the zerk, and hit it with a hammer and it's supposed to unclog the zerk so it'll take grease again....

Dont know, maybe they don't work....I have one, bought it at our local parts store, but haven't tried it yet.
