IH TD-6 crawler motor question

Hey Guys. I bought a '62 or '63 model TD6 that has a bad crankshaft. The former owner had a rebuilt motor installed & ran it without the belly pan until he busted the oil pan & burned out a rod bearing. We got a donor motor with it that was supposed to be the same. We got a good rod out of it but when I tried to put the crank into my motor I found the stroke is 1/4 inch longer on the donor motor crank, even though the rods are the same in both motors. The donor motor is stamped D-282, but there is no stamp I can find on the rebuilt motor. Does any body know what I've got myself into, and the best way out? I've been told this is the same motor used in the 706 tractor.
