The PUMP is attached to the front cover of the engine, in front of the distributor. That will have absolutely nothing to do with the problem. If the pump was bad/broken, the loader wouldn't have gone up, but a broken pump would still allow the loader to go down.

What you are looking at is the RESERVOIR, the block under the gas tank, right? That houses the hydraulic valve and the fluid.

The I&T manual for the Super and non-Super H,M,A,C,Cub has a section on the reservoir. It's listed as for the Super M/MTA, but it's the same unit.
