if the ledgerplates are dull on the guards i would replace all of them. You also need a manual for the mower to see how much lead the outer part of the mower should cause if its leeaning back too far when mowing the material is going thru at an angle thus the outer point where the divider or also called headboard leans back too far it will not cut as good. keep sickle sharp and tilt the cutter bar. the manual will describe all this.
