I have many a time. A farmall in good order will fire right off usually with one pull of the crank. Your tractor needs to be in proper time or it can kick back and make for sore arms or worse. I have a Super C that I start quite often with the crank, as it has a bad ring gear in it right now. I hope to get that fixed in a week or two, but it has been this way for three years. I remember when I was a kid cranking my old C in cold weather to pull dads diesel to get it started to feed cows with. It cranked right up every morning. We didn't run it long enough to keep the 6 volt battery charged enough to turn it with the starter on cold mornings.
