Hi Tom, my brother does not use HyTran either. He uses the EXXON or Shell equivalent. Just make sure the replacement hydraulic oil meets all the specs of HyTran. Check the archives there has been lots of discussion of Hytran equivalents. Re Dipstick, going from memory, the part that sticks down the tube should be about 8" long and hash marks about 1/3 the length from bottom. I believe the brakes are working because they have a small reservoir under the dash to be used when engine is not running. Same with power steering it has inbuilt pump so can steer without engine running. Some time ago, someone on this Forum mentioned of having to open one of the tubes out of the MCV valve to prime the hydraulic pump. This would be a mess as high pressure hydraulic fluid would fly every where. BE VERY CAREFULL with high pressure hydraulic fluid. Maybe just rolling engine with starter would be enough to prime pump. The procedure should also be in the archives. Could have been Bernard Le Mecano? Does your PTO work? Or is there no pressure to activate the PTO clutch? Sometimes the teeth get worn off the pressure plate spline that drives the PTO shaft and PTO shaft runs hydraulic pump and pump for T/A. Does it have a T/A and does it shift from Lo/Hi (Lo is mechanical, Hi is hydraulic clutch pack) properly? JimB

The garden was already sprouting when we hooked up the mid-mount shovel cultivators to the Pony. The seed bed was soft enough that the rear end would spin and slowly work its way to the downhill side of the gardens slight incline. From this, we learned our lesson sinc
