F12 rebuild

I'm rebuilding a 1935 F12 with small seeping crack along the left side water passage of the block. I would like to have this welded instead of using a sealer. I'm wondering if the heat from welding will destroy the seals in the sleeve's as this is a wet sleeve engine. The engine did not smoke and I had intended to put new rings in it while I have it torn down. Also is it possible to pull and put new seals in the existing sleeves as they seem to be in good shape with no appreciable wear or scouring.
