Mike, the govenor linkage is not actually connected inside, just some tabs that mesh together. It should just pull apart once you take the two screws or bolts out of the end of the tube. When you put it back together you just have to make sure the linkage lines up, it won't go all the way in if they aren't. As for disassembly, just diconnect everything saving the nuts that hold it to the manifold last, that way it's held steady to remove the fuel line, linkages and air inlet tube.
