Most older IHs had remotes under the fuel tank here in the midwest. They were controled with the levers the same as a rear remote. They were put there to hook up a front mounted cultivator. This way the hoses could be shorter and you didn't trip on them when getting on and off the tractor. Gary

Tractor Traction - by Chris Pratt. Our first bout with traction problems came when cultivatin with our Massey-Harris Pony. Up till then, this tractor had been running a corn grinder and pulling a trailer. It had new unfilled rear tires and no wheel weights.
