First off, I don't know which holes you are referring to behind the brake irons. A picture might be helpful. Second, I notice that you have the old style gas cap on there yet. If you are using it for a show tractor, that is neat, but if you are going to work it hard, you may want to consider getting the new style double vented cap. The old ones, if removed when hot, would give the operator a bath of warm gasoline when the pressure was released by opening the cap. Third, the choke on the W6 was not operated by a cable. It was operated by a metal rod with a loop on the end. It was supposed to run through the cast iron loop right next to the push button for the starter on the rear end case according to the parts manual. However, it is a bugger to reach it down there, and it is difficult to fit it around the battery and wires. Ours uses the same positioning as an O-6, OS-6, or WD-6 (I can't remember off hand) for some reason; I don't know if it was factory or not, but the mountings look factory. The picture below shows the original routing in red and you can see the way that it is routed now. It is held against the gas tank parting line by small holders that go through holes drilled through the seams of the gas tank.

Several different models were made in the 600 Series, and these numbers were used to denote whether they used a particular transmission, hydraulic system, or PTO. The result was five different model numbers: 620, 630, 640, 650 and 660. These break down as follows:
