Yes, you can jump a 6 volt starter with 12 volts, as long as you hook it up at the starter, as described above (below? when I reply to a post on these boards I never know where it will end up).

It"s done all the time. In most twelve-volt conversions, the original 6 volt starter motor is run off 12 volts as a matter of routine.

But DO NOT crank for more than a few seconds at at a time! In just this past weeek, there have been TWO posts on the 9N/2N/8N board from people who have burned up a 6 volt starter in a 12 volt conversion by cranking for too long!
