td9 crawler problume

While trying to start my tractor at first it stuck and would not turn over and then turning over completely free. I pulled the starter out, and you could see the flywheel turnover when the fan was turned by hand, no matter what position the diesel/gas decompression lever was in. I pulled the valve cover. All assemblies and linkages seem intact. The cam that pushed the compression release valves in the centers of the head seem to be working. Any suggestions on what the issue with the compression could be? This just occurred, it ran fine when the last I learned it, please any help would be appreciated.
