I H 1486, 3 point not picking up

3 point hitch not picking up,
When I bought the tractor the guy told me that if it ever stopped working the that there was a pin that comes out of the back inside the back plate. Now I have never been into this section and not sure what plate to take off (there are two plates)
Does this sound right?? If you have a clue about this. Please let me know a "quick how to" to help me out,
