I do not understand the logic behind tearing an engine apart, then not replacing all the wear parts while you are in there. For the engines I have overhauled or rebuilt (don't nitpick semantics with me), the time and effort to get it apart, clean it up and put it back together is the largest investment. That is not to say that parts are cheap, but if your time is worth anything at all it the biggest part of the job. Then there is the downtime if it a working tractor. I only want to do it once. If it fails because of a part that could have been easily and cheaply replaced while I was in there, then it was a half-assed job, and I don't intentionally do half-assed work. At least that is how I see it.
