tise: Sounds to me as though you have poor connections on battery cables or cables just not large enough. Those glow plugs draw a lot of amps. Close to same amount as starter. Those cables have to be 00 guage with soldered on ends, and they have to be in top condition. That my friend is must with diesel, especially one with glow plugs.
