Rex: You don't mention condition of fuel filters, when were they last changed? It could be dirt or cracked fuel lines. Sometimes lines can crack don't leak but will allow the system to suck air. Forget the diesel fuel conditioner, just a waste of money. I expect from your description the pump and maybe injectors need attention. This is a job for professionals with specialized equipment. Anything else you are just kidding yourself. You can remove all those items, make sure you line up timing marks before you remove pump. By all means, take pump and injectors to a professional. It will probably spoil the better part of $1,000.
