Well I didn't really think it was a short cut. Kind of like if your engine in your car needs a head gasket your not going to rebuild the entire engine just to fix a bad head gasket. The carb was rebuilt at the dealership when the tractor was rebuilt about 7-9 years ago and then it sat for 5-7 years untill I bought it. Main problem was varnich in the carb. I must not have got a passage way clean. Everythinkg looked good. so I fixed the gasket which broke when I pulled it apart.
chock shafts and seals are good, same as the throtal. All the jets were clean I could see through them. pulled all apart soaked and air pressured out. I will do it again. I had the same problem on my Cubs carb in the idle circut I fianly got it but I don't remember what it was.
I will also pull it apart and check the new IH gasket some times they cover up parts of the passage ways and need to be trimmed. I forgot to check that.
