The spring he speaks of is under the range cover that is under your feet as you sit in the bad seat. There is a floor board plate that comes off with four bolts. Then the cover will have 2 linkage arms going to it from the front and a park brake rod also. When you get all the rods and bolts off of the cover put a nut under the park brake arm to keep it disengaged as you pull the cover up. The cover will be stuck so tap on it with bfh. It's got dowel pins so it won't move sideways. The covers hole sometimes is wore. Get a rebuilt cover and shaft. Under the cover is a cam, spring, roller and another arm. Good luck.
