I started to do a few internet searches and couldn't find much to support red 22-36s. Russ is correect, IHC declared all tractors and power units produced after 1 Nov 1936 would be painted red.
I also came across www.mccormick-deering.com which has some interesting info on 15-30s and 22-36s, including the original gray. K-Mo

We had a mixed farm consisting of grain and dairy all done with old machinery and by hand.
