I have replaced many front crank seals on the neuss built engines and the work is simple.remove crank pulley gaurd from front of the sump slip off the fan belt and remove the 3 bolts retaining the pulley, thick washer and tappered cone this will allow access to the seal and wear ring i personnally found it easier to then remove the seal first and then pull out the wear ring (easy if the ring had 2 puller holes) if no holes were available heat was applied to the ring to expand it off the crank and quickly levered off(don,t warm the crank only the ring) all this work was carried out from underneath the tractor I wish it was as simple on the newer tractors which have the same engine on reassembly take care with the length of pin you put back in the wear ring and if you have the multi tappered cone assy(which holds the pulley on) it,s advisable you clean it with wet/dry for ease of rebuilding and tighten the 3 bolts a 1/4turn each progressivley until tight to prevent pulley wobble
