The serial number tag should be on the inside of the left hand seat bracket and be about 3" by 4".
With no starter mounting in the torque tube it probably is an early one.
You can also look on the engine. Beneath #1 sparkplug, kind of behind the magneto should be a number stamped into a raised spot on the block.
If the block is original, the engine number on the block will be the same as the serial number of the tractor on the early models.
