i have had this problem in a 350 and 450. the linkage play is not reallly that much of a problem when it comes to "wobble-wheels." there are two bearings in the front bolster(the funny shaped piece of cast iron that bolts to the frame rails and which the wheels are bolted to) that go bad. to fix it take the front wheels off, take the round gear off the top of the bolster and drop the front axle out the bottom. there will be a small bearing at the top and a large bearing at the bottom. while your at it you can replace the bushings for the rod that has the worm gear on it. to do this disconect the steering linkage, unscrew the cap on the front of the bolster and pull the rod out. all bushings can be taken out and put in with a properly matched piece of metal rod or pipe. this corrected the wobble in the 350 and 450 and now the only remaining play which amounts to one half inch in the steering wheel comes from the universals.
