wiring on 350 utility

I have a 350 gas utility tractor with a 12 volt system. The generator went bad so I put a one wire setup alternator in it. It charges fine, but when I shut it off and come back to use it the next day, the battery is dead. If I disconnect the battery cable after shutting it off, everything is fine. Somehow it is draining current? What should I look for?
