The drive coupling is a "cross coupling", That is, it has a cross bar on each side of a circular piece, the two bars on opposite sides being perpendicular to each other. The bars fit into a slot on the drive shaft coupling and into a slot on the driven shaft coupling of the Lift All. When you drop out the lift all, one of the two bars of the coupling must be vertical, so it can slide out of the mating slot as the Lift All come down. Hope I've made this clear enough. Also, below it mentioned two types of couplings. As far as I know, the M only has one type, but the one on the H is different. And....as the others said, be careful getting that thing out, it's heavy!! I lowered mine down with threaded rods. It's a hazard even after it's laying on the floor due to the irregular shape of the thing. Mine rolled over after it was laying on the floor and got my big toe. Took almost a year to grow a new toenail!
