Hi. Our 1086 has done this numerous times over the years. It happens just the way you describe it and for the same reason, shifting too quick and to close around the shift quadrant. Veryyy frustrating. My father always starts condeming the choice of buying a 1086 over a 4440 at these special times (now we have both). We have become proficient at fishing around through the battery cover hole with a heavy piece of wire with a hook at the end. We pull the tranny into neutral with the wire. Sometimes helps to have a person in the tractor to put their foot on the clutch if things are binding. That bolt you talked about will work itself loose. Our old girl has 11,000 hours and has done stop and go front end loader work most of its life. The valve cover has never been off the motor, just bearings on the crank as a matter of maintenance. Everything behind the motor is a different story though... . Still love the old girl.
