Larry - Sounds like someone replaced the original alternator on your 706 and wired it up wrong. An improperly wired internally-regulated alternator will draw a small amount of current when shut down and will drain the batteries after a few days sitting idle. Suggest you try this: 1 - Remove the ground cable from the battery next time you shut down. If the batteries stay up after a few days it says there's a drain in the system somewhere. (If the batteries still go down they need replacing...) 2 - Assuming you find your batteries are OK, next time you shut down leave the ground cable connected and pull the aux wiring connector (the one with 2 smaller wires) from the rear of the alternator. If the batteries stay up, either the charging system is wired wrong or there's a problem in the alternator itself. Good luck and post back what you find...
