I had several things that I wanted to do to my M, so I took the altenator off & took it to a local starter / altenator shop to be checked out. As soon as I told the old guy what it was doing, hetold me what the problem. Left it with him & he rebuilt ( brushes ) changed switch, painted Etc. & charged me 60 $. I think it was well worth it as it works great now.
