Wiped out my tractor account this week

Dropped a load of change on the hydraulics on my old Super C this week.They never did work since I've owned the tractor.Had a man I met through my wifes work that works on heavy equipment do the work for me, new it was over my head. He said it looked like water had sat for a long time in the touch control unit and the rear cyl. on the two point. Very pitted. He took them all apart and machined the rods on the touch control and the cyl. on the rear and repacked it. The real kicker though was that it looked like someone had the pump off before and put it back together wrong. All the teeth where gone off the gear and it looked like a bomb had gone off in the pump. IH wanted $450.00 for a new one. Found one at a salvage yard that looked great but it was still $190.00. Here is the painful details.
New pump = $190
Machine work =$80 = $80
Touch control seal kit = $47.24
Rear cyl. seal kit = $27.50
4 new hose's = $104.21
hose fitting = $2.44
10 hr.s labor = $350
1 gal. hyd oil = $4.20
Total = 801.39
Ouch! It does work great now. He put a bar in each of the two point holes and lifted the front end of his 1 ton Dogde with it and it held it there till we let it down. Squished the rear tires out flat.
Lesson one- buy your tractors cheep cause repairs can add up fast. Right Red.
Lesson two- learn how to repair your own hydraulics.
Lesson three- If you have condensation or water in your hydraulic system get that crap out of there, it aint doing you any favors.
Sorry for the long post, Just hope that you can feel my pain.
