changed the trans fluid in my H today

I changed out the trans fluid today and the old stuff looked like thick chocolate milk (downright nasty lookin) I poured about 2 gallons of kerosene into the top just to flush out more guk. Here is my question for you guys, I put 5.75 gallons of the fluid into the trans and the rest, about a quart or so into the pulley. (and yes I drained the old fluid out of the pulley housing) Is a quart into the pulley area correct.
