Hey EZ - what you are seeing is perfectly normal. Until the battery gets close to fully charged the alternator will peg the ammeter on a Farmall (25 - 30 amps or more...). Once the battery reaches full charge, the rate should gradually tail off so ammeter shows only a couple amps of charge when the battery is full. Also 14.05 volts when charging hard is right on.
