I have a 504 Utility with the 188 diesel engine .Yes it does use glow plugs to start. Good litle tractor,easy on fuel. I would strongly recomend replaceing the glow plugs and skip the ether.Too easy to crack a piston or blow head gasket with too much ether.Mine starts easily on cold mornings with about 45 seconds of glow plug pre heat time. Starting ether is for green tractors.
