Farmall H with stuck engine again.....

Sorry to be posting this again, but so many messages in the last couple of days pushed mine way back. I looked at an H on saturday - no serial tag so I can't tell you the year, but it is not a '39, it has the deluxe seat with the coil spring. Engine is stuck, owner said something about a cracked head and JB weld, but I think he meant the manifold, not sure. It is all there, complete with a mid-mount sickle mower that looks to be useable yet (I need a mowing tractor anyways). It has the factory IH wide front and has no welds, cracks, bends, etc. It is in good condition (but I don't know how worn out it may be). The front tires are junk, the rears are flat, one rim rusted through pretty bad, but they have good tread and don't seem to be weatherchecked (the part in the dirt may be ruined though). The tin is fair, grille has a couple dents in it. Don't know how long it has been sitting or how long it has been stuck, has muffler with raincap on it. Is it worth $400?? I figured I would bring it home, pull it in the shop and take the head and oil pan off - if it appears to be too much work I would part it out or sell complete without the mower. Would I lose money? My Dad won't invest with me and I am broke because of Christmas and college right now, does anyone want a parts H for $400 so I can have the mower? I don't want to lose any money because then Dad will never let me hear the end of it. Sorry for such a long post, Thanks in advance for any advice. Steven@nd
