Hugh, check the screen in the elbow where the line goes in the carb first as well as the screen in the fuel bowl. These are easy to check and might accidently be the culprit. If these are all clear then go into the carb. I had recently rebuilt my carb so disassembling wasn't too tough and I did not damage any gaskets on the way. If your carb has not been apart you will probably need gaskets at the very least. In the end I sprayed out the passages with carb cleaner, ran small wire through where I could and finally blew everything out with air. Cured the problem. I was at my wits end prior to this.
