I think Bob's got it, I had this trouble with my Super M last summer. It'd shoot gas right out the connection between the carb and aircleaner. Take the bottom of the carb off and CAREFULLY check the float for movement. Then pull the pin, drop the float and look the needle over. Remember that as soon as you pull the float the needle will fall. I dropped the stupid thing in the grass TWICE. Then pour a pot of water and sink the float in it and watch for bubbles. A leaky float is bad news.
If that all seems good put it all back and bend the float down JUST A LITTLE. Thats what cured mine.
