Weird Farmall M oil filter housing

I just got an M Sunday and noticed the oil filter is not normal. Instead of being like a bell, it is more like a coffee can with a steel lid held in place by the large center bolt. It looks original. Could it be a very early model? I can email a picture to anyone who is interested.
