I believe all Super C's came with a water pump and are supposed to have a thermostat. That is not true of all earlier C's. Sometimes people take thermostats out because they are having radiator problems. No thermostat - no pressure to worry about. Recently I changed my thermostat while having the radiator worked on. It had the original style which is maybe 2" thick and no longer available even from Case IH. Instead you get one that is thinner and needs a separate spacer/collar to fill the gap. Case IH wanted about $11 for the spacer and about $20 for the thermostat. You can get a replacement at NAPA for 3 or 4 dollars but they don't have the spacer. I believe both the Case IH "official" thermostat and the NAPA one were rated around 155 degrees. Putting a higher temp thermostat in than that means you will have higher pressure in the radiator than it was designed for. These 50 year old radiators can be pretty fragile. Also your radiator cap if original might release pressure too soon.
