I had simular problem with my F-20. The problem I fixed but done several things and not sure what actually fixed it. I was running a mixture of diesel and gas after tractor was warmed up and I switched back to running straight gas all the time. I also adjusted the timing a little and adjusted the governor some. Along with messing around with the carb a little. The tractor started running O.K. but not sure what it actually was. Since your carb is leaking from bottom port I would start there. That maybe your problem. Then I would check for stuck or miss adjusted valves. If that don't get it I would make sure the timing is correct. Hopefully it don't have a burnt valve. If it does they ussually make a popping noise while running and there will be a miss especially on a pull. Maybe your governor might be out of adjustment since it dies when you let out on the clutch. I had to adjust my governor to fix that problem on my F-20 becuase the nuts on that shaft had come loose while messing with carb. But I am sure that didn't cuase the flame and backfiring problem. If you don't get it figured out get back with us and tell us what you did and how you are coming along.
