560 diesel problems

We bought a 560 diesel a couple of weeks ago, knowing it had some problems. The man we bought it from said it would run at idle and at full throttle only. When he tried to run it between the two, the tractor would die. He took it to an IH dealer, who put new batteries, regulator, fuel filters, and 3 glow plugs in it. They could not get it to start on its own, but got it going by pulling it. It still did not run at mid-throttle position. Instead of spending the money to have them fix it, he sold it to us dirt cheap(he needed the money). Now, it is up to us to get it going. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
