I've been having lots of problems with the starter on my 400D. Wouldn't engage, sounded awful, wouldn't disengage and finally would just spin. This was a rebuilt Delco-Remy starter from a local shop. Anyway I finally got fed up and ordered a new starter from CIH. Got the starter yesterday and put it in. All my woes are gone, starts great. Thing is this starter is different than the original. Looks like they redesigned the solenoid section and enclosed the lever arm, also beefed up the gear end. The old Delco-Remy looks like junk compared to this one. Anyone know if IH redesigned the starters on the 400D's?
