I have found that a needle scaler works best for removing paint and rust. Use oven cleaner and putty knife to remove the grease. I only use sandblasting to clean small parts and sheet metal in a cabinet. Sand always tends to get in places you don't want it. You can get a scaler through harbor freight for about $30-40. I am surprised more people don't use them, they are incredible.
