The Cub does a fine job for what it was designed to do. If you need more HP then you probably need a bigger tractor. You will probably feel more HP with new rings and valve job. I know 12HP dose'nt sound like much but if you were to put your car on a dyno and run it at 1600 rpm, you'd be suprised at how little it makes (compared to its rated HP at 5500rpm). Probably the easiest way to bump up the HP is to increase the compression ratio. Stock was 6.5:1. Milling the heads will boost it a little. Look for new pistons with higher compression ratio. Dont know if they are avaliable, but this would be the easiest HP boost. 87octane will run anything up to 8.5:1. That neighborhood Cub pull sounds like a lot of fun.
