F-20 oil leaks

Working on my son's F-20 for him,and am going to try to get some of the oil leaks fixed around the belt pulley and input shaft on trans. etc. It leaks everywhere when it has the right amount of oil in it.I know the parts book shows packing around the shafts.What is a modern solution for this? If I do need to use packing,would the packing for faucet's do the job? Thanks
