Answer: Because it work hardens and cracks in time and that causes that pyrotechnic effect called "My tractor is on fire!!"
Take the extra time to make the lines from steel, you will have a much safer result.
Pre-cut brake lines with fittings installed are an easy answer to finding the fuel line you need.
In the absence of a bending tool, take a small tin can (soup or bean) and use it to wrap the line around to help prevent kinking.
You will need a double flaring tool if the correct length of line cannot be purchased and you must cut what you have.
