The ammeter on my Farmall Super A shows no charge. After I jumpstart it, it will run only a few minutes before it stops. How can I tell whether the problem is in the generator vs. the regulator? On a tractor with a generator, will a bad battery cause the ammeter to show no charge? Could the cutting out problem be related to the charging system problem? I thought the cutting out problem was the coil so I changed it and I also cleaned the system's strainers but they did not problem. Does a tractor w/ a generator need a charged battery to keep it running
