1936 F-20 Color

I posted last week that when I was cleaning up the steering wheel that there was some paint that appeared to be black. Since I have cleaned up the hood and the gas tank. There isn't much paint on exposed surfaces, but in protected places there seems to be black paint. Does anyone know what's going on here? Is this a primer or could the tractor be black? Is there any way to find out how the tractor was configured when it was made?
