farmall h tractor needs help

i have a 1941 farmall h.i am having problemsd with the generator and the engine.when i run my lights it drains the battery dead.i shut them off and for a few minutes and turn em back on and they work again.how can i boost the charging rate.also when i have the engine running at low idle it is real smooth.when i pull back on the throttle it acts like it misses or is running on 3 cylinders.i cannot think of a reason why this would be if it is fine on low idle, but not good on high idle.
